Chip IN: When Taiwan’s chip meets Israel’s innovations

已更新:2022年10月20日

Taiwan Trade & Innovation Center(TTIC), Tel Aviv held the Chip IN event in Tel Aviv last month. Chip IN is the first conference in Israel to showcase the Taiwanese technology ecosystem, and present the exceptional collaboration opportunities between Israeli startups and Taiwan’s leading companies.

Taiwan to Israel market is like peanut butter to jelly, completing each other perfectly. On Israel’s part, start-ups there are globally-oriented from day one as the local market is not relevant in terms of size. Hence, Israeli start-ups seek for global partners as part of their funding, product development and global expansion.

Taiwan, on the other hand, is home to major industries like electronics, ICT, semiconductors, automotive, bicycles, and more. Partnership with Israeli startups can give Taiwan a competitive advantage.

In the Chip IN forum, Ms. Ya-Ping (Abby) Lee, the representative at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Tel Aviv, opened the event and talked about the countries’ unique complementaries and synergies.

The first part of the event was dedicated to introducing Taiwan’s electronics and ICT industries to Israeli startups and various Israeli stakeholders. Dov Moran, entrepreneur, inventor (best known as the inventor of the USB memory stick), and currently the managing partner of Grove Ventures, led a panel featuring Elad Sity, CEO of Neouroblade, and Micha Risling, CBO at Unifabrix, two prominent Israeli executives with extensive experience of partnering with Taiwanese companies.

The panel discussion addressed the value of working with Taiwanese partners, practical tips, and the panelists' personal experiences engaging with Taiwan. TSMC’s EMEA’s Director of Business Development, Kees Joosse, presented TSMC’s Semiconductor Innovation and Foundry Services.

The second part featured reverse pitches by six leading Taiwanese corporates, which introduced their company and products and presented their vision and scope of interest for early-stage innovation and startup collaboration. Pegatron, Wistron, LITEON, Chicony, Winbond, and Advantech took part in the event, shared information with Israeli startups, and invited them to connect.

The last part of the event was a set of meetings between Taiwanese companies and selected Israeli startups.

Chip IN is part of the TTIC’s activity in Israel to launch technology partnerships between the countries. TTIC is Taiwan’s innovation hub in Israel, providing Taiwanese companies with a variety of corporate innovation services, to connect with the Israeli startup ecosystem.
